Named in honor of America's 34th President, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) was commissioned on October 18, 1977.



Stretching 1,092 feet in length and displacing 95,000 tons, the Dwight D. Eisenhower is one of the largest warships in the world. Boasting a massive 4.5 acre flight deck, the ship carries 85 combat aircraft and is home to nearly 6,000 officers and crew. Since receiving her commission, the Dwight D. Eisenhower has served with distinction as a vital part of the Navy's Atlantic Fleet, becoming the first aircraft carrier to conduct sustained operations in the Red Sea while supporting Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
