The oldest and largest unified command in the U.S. Military, the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) was established in 1947.

Headquartered at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii, USPACOM is staffed by more than 2,000 military and civilian personnel, who are charged with the supervision of the armed services branch components and subordinate commands of this fully-integrated force. USPACOM's massive area of responsibility covers approximately half of the earth's surface and traverses sixteen time zones, from the mainland of America's west coast to the east coast of Africa and from the Arctic to the Antarctic, including the states of Alaska and Hawaii. As a joint combatant command of the U.S. Military, USPACOM units advance U.S. interests in peace and war, providing rapid-response capabilities to meet and overcome threats to America's security.

This coin is honors the U.S. Pacific Command's legacy of excellent service to the nation and the world and salutes the courageous men and women who have served this force over the past six decades. The obverse depicts USPACOM's official emblem, which features a globe and compass design, symbolic of the command's enormous area of responsibility. The reverse bears the seals of the five branches of the U.S. Military.
